Join me in supporting the work of End Rape on Campus.
Hey Friends! Y'all have heard all of my rants about the recent events and how they're actively against everything I believe. But I've been pretty silent about the national (in)attention on sexual violence, misogyny, and rape culture.
I was raped my freshman year, and it's been sitting pretty heavily on my mind lately. I haven't really approached the thought that someone who has been caught on film being sexually violent and bragging about his exploits is allowed to sit in the White House, because I'm not ready to process all the feelings attached to it.
I know there's been a flurry of lists about which organizations people should donate to in order to run damage control for the next four years, but let me personally speak for this one. EROC is run by some of the most fantastic people I know, who work tirelessly every day to offer resources to survivors of college sexual assault, something I personally would have really benefited from.
That's why I'm fundraising for End Rape on Campus this Giving Tuesday. I care deeply about this issue, and it would mean the world to me to have your support. Please consider making a donation, however small, today.
Additional Plug, the people behind EROC were the ones who gave me the opportunity and voice to write about my own experience in a survivor anthology We Believe You. I loved being a part of it, I loved having it to read, I believe in this book as a cathartic experience that makes someone feel comfort and solidarity through one of the worst of times. It's definitely not something to read in one sitting, or even in two, but I've always thought of it as a great resource to have.
Thank you in advance for your kindness.
